Decommissioning Process Outline:
Initiate Decommissioning of the Service
- Submit decommissioning request and receive approval
- Hire Project Manager (of decommissioning company)
- Decommission plan submitted to Directors for review & approval
- Take service offline
- Confirm & communicate offline & end dates
- Users can no longer access system after said date
- Remain ready to redeploy if necessary
- Personnel & Hardware still allocated until end date
- Create archive of decommissioning target like it was on offline date
- Document the service: how to access, vendors, who worked on service
- Stop billing
- Remove entry
- Verify migrations
- Leave source code in code repository
- Notification & decommission
